It’s April 1st and I’m not Fooling!! :)

Do you think Spring is finally here?  I’m praying so, even though, today is definitely on the chilly side here in Wisconsin.

Speaking of Wisconsin, I’m told my being from Michigan is obvious by the way I pronounce Wisconsin.  It seems I’ve been saying, Wesconsin; when in

reality I’m supposed to say Wisconsin, like the sound in swiss cheese.  They’re right.  It’s seems strange for me to say it correctly, but “when in Rome, do as the Romans” right?

So, I’ve been practicing.  I actually love the area we live in.  It’s like being in the foothills of the Smokeys AND OF COURSE, I can’t leave out the eagles that winter here, just 15 miles away!

We’ve counted up to 37 all in one spot!!!  That’s right – no kidding!  One day my brother called from Michigan and I complained that I’d ONLY seen 13 that morning.  He actually laughed at me – can you imagine, and then said, “Pam, do you have any idea how many people have never seen a bald eagle in the wild and you’re complaining that you ONLY saw 13?”  He did help me get it all back into perspective.  🙂

But, sadly, they’ve all flown the coop (sorry I couldn’t help myself).  That is, most of them.  There are those who live here year around and we have seen three, so far – two adults and one young one.

Did you know the bald eagle doesn’t get the full white head and tail until they are about five years old?

Another thing I’ve discovered since moving here is the world of live cams on wild life.  Currently, I’m tracking an albatross chick in Hawaii, a nesting red-tailed hawk in New York, a nesting eagle in Wisconsin near the Mississippi River (who has laid two eggs – so far) and another nesting eagle in Iowa who has three eggs which should start hatching even today.  What fun to watch these birds live on the internet.

Well, I must go.  It’s time to make the hubby some lunch.  I will try to post more often now.  Take care my family and friends.
